HOW FAITHFUL ARE YOU?

The theme for this year was “How FAITHFUL Are You?” John 6:26-36

Jesus crossed the river to Capernaum. The followers that witnessed His miracles, including the miracle of feeding the 5000, went looking for him and found him.  When they arrived, Jesus said to them “ Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled”.  JESUS IS THE DISCERNER OF HEARTS  (John 2:23–25).

These are followers, but the appearance of faithfulness does not always equate to being faithful.  

They witnessed Jesus’ miracles yet still wanted more.  They were not convinced. 

Matthew Henry states in his Commentary on John 6, “They had their curiosity gratified by the strangeness of them, who had not their consciences convinced, by the power of them.” 

WOW!  Some food for thought!

These people followed Jesus but:

1.  They followed him for the wrong reasons, as their intentions were wrong.

2. They questioned His abilities and who He was; they wanted to see more signs.

3. They wavered in their belief, faithfulness and commitment by comparing Jesus’ “works” to Moses’ “works”.

4. They were unbelieving still!
